Chances are you might feel a little bit nervous before the first date with that nice guy. But rest assured. We’re here to back you up with eight natural beauty tricks to try before your date, so you won’t feel uptight when the day comes.

How to prepare for your date

Yes, having a date might make you feel nervous, but with the tricks we prepped, you’ll stay relaxed and radiant — guess you don’t need more.

Moist skin

Ideally, start prepping a couple of days before the date by keeping your skin hydrated. A smooth, moisturized complexion always makes you appear more radiant and fresh. Plus, if you apply makeup, it’ll look and resist better on hydrated skin. You can maintain your skin moist by diligently using a lightweight moisturizer rich in hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, glycerin, squalane, and vitamin E, like CeraVe Moisturizing Cream.

If you want something different than your usual moisturizer, we’ve prepped a natural DIY recipe that makes skin smooth and glowy like a rose petal in the morning sunshine. You need four tablespoons of pumpkin pulp (you need to boil it first). Put it in a bowl with a spoonful of honey, a spoonful of olive oil, a half spoonful of milk, and a spoonful of aloe vera pulp. Once you get a homogeneous mixture, apply it to your face and décolleté for 20 minutes. Rinse it with fresh water.

Here’s the theory behind this DIY mask: pumpkin is a vegetable rich in beta-carotene, which is a powerful natural antioxidant. Plus, it’s a precursor of vitamin A, which is a fat-soluble vitamin, so sends moisture right into the skin. Olive oil has been shown to have antioxidant properties too, and it’s chocked full of fatty acids, meaning it’s emollient and softens the skin. Finally, honey is hydrating, and aloe vera has an antibacterial role, while milk exfoliates (thanks to lactic acid).

Shiny, soft, and silky hair

The ideal scenario is to look drop-dead gorgeous and feel yourself during the entire date, and your hair look plays a big role in that. Basically, you need to aim for that loose and shiny hair, soft yet with volume. To have it, try this mask two days before your date:

You’ll need an avocado, two drops of almond oil, and two drops of coconut oil. In a bowl, put the avocado pulp and the oils and mix with a spoon. Apply it when you have your hair wet and let it act for 20 minutes, then wash your hair as usual. Avocado’s composition has potential health effects, and it has been shown to have antioxidant and protective properties against DNA damage and ultraviolet radiation. Almond oil has moisturizing, emollient, soothing, and regenerating properties, while coconut oil has proven to have active properties to protect and nourish hair.

Don’t negate the eye area

A brilliant look with healthy and shiny eyelashes is one more detail that can frame your face with that natural beauty you want to show. For this, you need petrolatum (Vaseline) and castor oil. In the evening, give your eye area a massage with a little bit of Vaseline and a drop of castor oil. Leave it on all night and wake up to glowy eyelashes in the morning.

Fleshy, soft lips

What you don’t want before your date is dry, chapped lips. Once again, you’ll need Vaseline. Apply it to the lips and follow up with some sugar. Exfoliation time: heat up some water, and with a little cotton, massage the lips so that, little by little, those dead skins are removed. Then apply Vaseline again and leave it on all night.

Give your nails a bit of love

A handy trick you can do before your date is to boost your nails with two drops of lemon, a spoonful of olive oil, a chopped piece of garlic, and a capsule of vitamin B. Make a mixture of the ingredients and massage it on your nails. In case you wonder, garlic has been shown to have antimicrobial properties. Likewise, lemon is a citrus fruit with antibacterial and antioxidant properties. Vitamin B has also been classically used for the treatment of brittle nails.

Get a good night’s rest

Try to go to bed early. If you rest well, you’ll get up looking more relaxed and without dark circles. Hint: put some lavender under your pillow; the smell helps you get a peaceful sleep. The aroma of lavender essential oil has been proven to have positive benefits in the treatment of sleeplessness due to its relaxing properties.

A relaxing bath before your date

There’s nothing more suitable. You should be calm and relaxed, and one way to achieve this is through a hot bath where your nerves are relieved, your muscles lose their tension, where placidity relaxes your face, and the steam opens your pores, eliminating toxins. It’s worth spending at least half an hour in a bath with natural salts and a pleasant scent.

Enjoy your date, and remember, be natural and always be yourself.
